A Day in the Life of a Korean Dog (That Lives Better Than Me)

A Day in the Life of a Korean Dog (That Lives Better Than Me)

In Korea these days, it really feels like dogs live more like humans — or even better. I don’t own a dog myself, but one of my close friends does. And after seeing how their dog lives... I was honestly speechless.

Let’s just say, in their home, the dog is the real boss.

🚍 A Dog That Goes to Kindergarten?

Every morning, my friend gets ready for work and also packs a tiny bag — for the dog. At first I thought it was just a cute accessory, but nope. Their dog actually goes to doggy kindergarten.

Even crazier? There’s a pick-up service. A special pet shuttle bus comes right to the door to pick up the dog. Uniformed driver and all. I’m not even kidding.

🎓 Morning Classes and Social Skills

Cute puppies playing in grass

Once at daycare, the dogs run around with friends, play with toys, and attend obedience classes. But it doesn’t stop there. They even take socialization training to help them get along with other dogs.

Honestly, this dog’s morning is more structured than mine.

🍽️ Customized Lunch Menu

The dog’s lunch? Organic chicken breast and low-allergy probiotic snacks. There are salmon-flavored treats and blueberry chews too.

Meanwhile, I’m sitting there chewing on a convenience store triangle kimbap, wondering where my life went wrong.

🧖‍♀️ Occasional Spa Days

Not every day, but on special occasions, the dog gets to visit a full-service pet spa. We’re talking baths, blow-drying, paw pad trimming, ear cleaning — even aromatherapy massage packages.

It's not cheap, but my friend says, “It’s a treat. Our baby deserves it.” At this point, I’m convinced the dog lives better than I do.

📸 Time for a Glam Shot

After grooming, the dog visits a mini photo studio built into the salon. They put on little crowns, floral backgrounds, seasonal props… all for the perfect shot.

There are even photo book services to turn their best looks into an album. I don’t even have a yearbook, and this dog has a portfolio.

🛏️ After a Long Day, Straight to Bed

After work, my friend picks up the dog, who immediately flops onto the couch like a tired office worker. While my friend checks work emails, the dog climbs into bed and snuggles under the blanket.

I swear, the dog has a better evening routine than I do.

🐾 This Dog Definitely Lives Better Than Me

In Korea, dogs are no longer “just pets.” They’re family — and in many ways, they live like royalty.

Daycare, custom meals, grooming, photo shoots, and even the occasional spa trip. I’m not saying I’m jealous, but… okay, I am.

And every time I get a picture update from my friend, I can’t help but think:

“That dog’s got it made.”
